Teradata’s unwavering commitment to customers is unchanged.
Since this devastating global pandemic began, we all have had to adapt and change many of our regular routines. What hasn’t changed is my ongoing privilege of regularly speaking with you, our Teradata customers. In our conversations, I’ve heard how many of you, across all industries, are facing extraordinary challenges and difficult choices. You’re working to balance the need to keep your businesses running as effectively as possible with the need to keep your people safe while trying to shape the future of your business.
At Teradata, we are fortunate to have many customers on the frontlines tackling this virus, working day and night to get this historic pandemic behind us. If you are a governmental organization, healthcare provider, researcher, pharmaceutical, or logistics company, or another type of enterprise deep in the fight, we thank you for all you’ve done and continue to do to ensure humanity’s long-term health and safety. We’re seeing our healthcare and logistics customers, for example, use data to help rapidly and efficiently distribute the life-saving COVID-19 vaccine around the globe.
Our goal is to transform how business work to beat this crisis; we are here to help you use data to get the answers you need—quickly and at the scale you need. That’s who we are and have always been, and we’re not going to stop now.
To help ensure the resilience of our customers and the global community, we’ve undertaken a number of initiatives and collaborations. They’re designed to help customers navigate the new reality of business to avoid costly mistakes, accelerate transformations that modernize their enterprises, and provide real-time answers to those on the frontlines to overcome this once-in-a-lifetime event. Our people, expertise, and technology have been and will actively continue to support customers as they fight the pandemic or adjust their businesses models. We stand at the ready to ensure that each of you has the capacity, uptime, and resources required to help your customers and your employees.
From what we’ve seen play out during this pandemic around the world, an effective response to COVID-19 requires the full collaboration of global enterprises and local citizens combined with the effective use of big data and technology. To that end, we’re involved in these endeavors:
- For organizations working to mitigate COVID-19, we’re focusing on doing what we do best: bringing disparate data sets together and breaking down information siloes to deliver answers to the toughest questions, faster.
- Globally, our world-class data scientists are offering their time and knowledge to solve COVID-19 related problems, provide solutions, and support humanity.
- In the U.S., we’re working directly with both public and private agencies to address the pandemic. We’re leveraging data analytics to predict where new outbreaks are likely to occur, pinpoint populations most at risk, and estimate which resources will be needed in specific geographies.
- We are participating in the COVID-19 Healthcare Coalition, working alongside many of our customers and tech industry peers to connect the dots between healthcare and government.
While we’ve never seen anything like this crisis in our history, we’ll continue to do what we’ve always done: the right thing for our customers and for our world. We’ll do that by remaining true to our purpose: transforming how businesses work and people live through the power of data.
Like you, we place a high value on our employees’ wellbeing. That’s why our employees will continue to work from home until we execute our phased approach to return to the office. Our Pandemic Response Team has established protocols, based on global best practices, for returning to our offices around the world and once again visiting our customers. Even though we cannot see you in person at our offices, at your site, or at industry gatherings, we are continuing to provide ways for our dedicated team to interact with our customers virtually. Our commitment to serving you has not and will not change.
If you need help leveraging data to make decisions, please contact us. Together, let’s get through this unprecedented time together and get answers to the questions the world urgently needs right now.
Thank you,
Steve McMillan
